The Balkan Investigative Reporting Network (BIRN) and Erste Foundation are inviting journalists from Albania, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Greece, Hungary, Kosovo, North Macedonia, Montenegro, Poland, Romania, Serbia and Slovakia to take part in their Balkan Fellowship for Journalistic Excellence 2024.

They will have to submit research proposals on the theme of “Resilience”.

Prizes

Ten journalists will receive a € 3,000 bursary to support their reporting, ongoing mentoring, and assistance from BIRN’s regional journalistic network.

Furthermore, the top three best stores will be rewarded with €3,000, €2,000 and €1,000. 

Applicants must be fluent in English, although reports may be written in local languages.

Fellowship reports will be disseminated widely both in local languages and English.
